Goodbye

My Mom passed away today around 2:00 in the afternoon. Our family is so humbled to know that God would answer our prayers for mercy. We had prayed and Mom had prayed that God would not let her linger and allow her family to see her suffer. He did just that! What an awesome God we serve. Most people diagnosed with this disease last only a few months. Mom lasted a year, two months and and 1/2 day. I wondered why God let her live outside the odds but I think I know. Dad, Bonnie, Bryan and all of us that loved her needed to get used to not having her. Mom always worried that she was putting us through suffering with her health issues. Little did she know that she was the martyr. She was the one living day after day not knowing when or if she would die and she did it all so we could handle her death. She was only uncomfortable and inchoherent for 2 days- that is all. The largest does of pain meds she took right up until Tuesday was 5mg. Then we started her on morphine and the largest dose she took of that was a small dropper full. Blessing upon blessing was showered down on our family during this time. We are so grateful to our Lord and Savior. We will all be together again. Dad told her the other day that they had 52 years together but even better than that was they were going to have eternity together. That is what it is all about- look to what you are going to do after you die- secure that! The only way is to admit you are a broken human being that can do nothing without the grace of God. Admit you are a sinner and tell God you do believe He sent His son to die on the cross and bear our sins so that we can have eternal life and fellowship with him. But that is not all there is to this- RELATIONSHIP with Him brings the most joy you could ever experience. It gives you strength to get through all the trials of life, no matter how sad or how bad. Bonnie and Dad started asking each other who she would say hi to first- after Jesus, of course and they decided it would be Grandaddy because he had been waiting the longest. Another sweet thing we noticed is she got some roses yesterday from a sweet friend of hers. The roses were not open this morning. However, after she passed, they blosssomed out in bloom. Of course, when the spirit of the living God passes through the room, the roses could not help but burst forth in beauty. That my friends is looking for God in all the right places- even death.
